'Speed'

A short assignment that we have been given of a word, of which mine was 'speed'. We were to apply techniques and skills that we already know using a SLR camera. For this I choose to use a technique called 'Panning'. To achieve this I put my camera on a slow shutter speed of around 1/20th of a second and an Aperture of F8. I then followed the traffic that was driving past, 'panning' my camera to capture the movement and make the background blurred.

Studio - Gradient background

This image was taken using the gradient background, I used two soft box's on either side of the bottle and glass, I also used two white reflectors to add light at the front of the bottle. I dislike this way of lighting props as its quite difficult of getting an even lit background.

Studio - Light tent

This image was taken using a light tent, It is much easier to use this technique for photographing small objects as it covers the whole product.

Short Assignment - Cycle City

Cycle City - Here i have taken some images of bicycles in Hull, I have chosen 6x6 format but the images are taken on a Digital SLR, I have not completed this assignment yet as I want to capture bicycles moving using the technique 'Panning', which is rather difficult when you don't often see bikes cycling past.

Short Assignment - Building, Driffield RAF Base

For this short assignment i have chose to take pictures of the derelict RAF base in driffield, I have wanted to take some fashion shots in this location and had only been in one of the buildings so went and explored a few of the others with Tom Turner, its quite exciting because you dont know what to expect.

Short Assignment - 5 second portraits

These are my five portraits for one of the short assigments we were given, i found this task fairly hard as i can be rather shy approaching strangers and then asking for their picture, although i think it is a good confidence building technique if you need to use people you don't know for photo shoots, i did feel accomplished yet relieved once i had got my 5 portraits and wouldn't mind getting some more.
